rubycube’s core focus lies at the intersection of technology, therapy and design. We develop mobile apps for children with high functioning autism, ADHD and other social challenges.

Our mission is clear – to create apps that help children to better understand social expectations and engage more successfully in social settings.

Jennifer and Pete Minnelli, the founders, have an 11 year-old daughter with the diagnosis of High Functioning Autism, ADHD and anxiety. Jennifer, M.S., CCC-SLP is a Speech Language Pathologist who has worked with children with special needs for the past 15 years. Her career spans in a variety of settings, including neonatal intensive care unit, early intervention centers, private outpatient clinics, preschool classrooms and elementary school classrooms.

Despite Jennifer's expertise in treating children like her, they have encountered many school professionals who do not know how to educate their daughter, despite her high intelligence and motivation to do well. Children on the autism spectrum have gifts and talents, with creative ideas and unusual perspectives, to offer the world.

In their efforts to place their daughter in the right educational setting, they've become keenly aware of the role technology plays in the assistance and education of children, particularly those with autism spectrum disorders. While using an iPad at home over the past few years, they became frustrated with the lack of apps designed to assist kids with high-functioning autism like their daughter.

Pete, a trained designer, has over 20 years of experience in design and brand development for a wide variety of products and services. With Pete’s ability to convey complex concepts in both simple and approachable ways and Jennifer's training, clinical experience and advocacy for this population of children, they were well positioned to conceptualize, design and develop interactive apps that help children with social language challenges.

These children have special gifts, talents, creative ideas and unusual perspectives to offer the world, and Pete and Jennifer truly believe that storysmart™ holds promise for them to learn critical social language skills that will help them function more happily, independently, and successfully in their communities.
